Scrapbook

Some stuff from the olden days.

Life felt pretty complete once a logo I’d designed ended up on skateboards and retro t shirts. My work there is done.

Early 2000’s as Creative Director at Whybin|\TBWA. The words “PlayStation Tan” were my contribution, the rest of the team finished it off.

No I didn’t invent Goldstein, wasn’t even in the room – but I did write this in the back of a Hilux ute during “unseasonal” pouring rain down in Queenstown. We had to come up with something we could shoot inside because the rain wasn’t going to be stopping any time soon. What a joy to conceive of the thing, write it, get it approved and shot within about 36 hours. The cool thing was that everyone’s internet ads were about where you could be in this exciting new world when you did things on-line; we went for where you wouldn’t be.

Eta Ripples. Grey Advertising. This thing was made in the early days of the SPFX involved and before social media came along. (Yes, there was such a time…sigh.) It’s a much bigger idea than just the TVC. But, yeah, social media hadn’t really been invented so it kind of missed out on its real potential.

Buy Kiwi Made. M&C Saatchi. Idea and the script. It was cool seeing some pretty serious effects come together to make this.

Te Mana. M&C Saatchi. These were my first steps into Te Ao MÃ¥ori. I’ve ventured back many times since. I love going there, it’s always an enriching experience.

Rock and roll matters. So does independent media & community. That’s why I’m on the board of directors of 95bFM, as well as co-hosting the Border Radio Show on Sunday nights. And why if you’re in a band and want some photos or a video I’ll probably do them for you. And you’re a big label or promoter and can pay for these photos, even better.
